The Story of Pleasant Grove

A Century of Grace

The Seeds of Faith

In the summer of 1881, thirteen devoted believers gathered with prayerful hearts to establish a church for the Neese-Diamond Hill area. Known originally as The Baptist Church of Christ, we formally became Pleasant Grove Baptist Church on July 16, 1881. During those foundation years, the flock met on the fourth weekend every month, hosting their opening service inside the Hardman Schoolhouse and organizing their first revival meeting in 1883. Across our lengthy history, this church family has walked through difficult seasons and mourned the passing of dear ones. However, through every storm, our Lord has been a constant wellspring of comfort and resilience. We remain committed to our mission of spreading the gospel of Christ while nurturing spiritual growth in each other. Our path forward is still guided by a passion for missions, reaching out to those who are hurting both in our own backyard and in distant lands around the world.

Growing with Neese

Over time, people and pastors have come and gone like the ebb and flow of any church. However, we remain committed to proclaim the truth of God's Word, His grace, and His gospel which is reflected in our Mission Statement.
